Artist’s impression of how the revamped St Enoch centre will look
A construction worker has been killed at Sir Robert McAlpine’s £40m redevelopment of the St Enoch shopping centre in Glasgow.
It is not known how the accident happened, nor whether the individual killed was working directly for Sir Robert McAlpine or for a subcontractor.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “A 43-year-old man has died after sustaining serious injuries while working at a construction site at the St Enoch Centre Glasgow on Thursday 22 August 2019. Emergency services were called at 320pm, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A joint Police Scotland and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation is ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
