Wates’ order book hits record level

Wates Group secured £2.4bn of new work in 2020, taking its order book to a record £6.6bn, up 13.5%.

The news came as Wates revealed its financial results for the past year. Describing 2020 as “one of the most challenging years” in its 124-year history, Wates recorded  turnover of £1.45bn (down 11.3%) and made a pre-tax profit of £1.7m, after exceptional costs of £11.4m.

It ended the year with £215.9m of cash, as well as access to an undrawn £120m revolving credit facility.
