Interserve has handed over the new NHS Nightingale Hospital at the NEC in Birmingham to the NHS to treat covid-19 patients.
The temporary 800-bed facility was opened by the Duke of Cambridge and health secretary Matt Hancock via a video link.
More than 400 employees and contractors and 60 Gurkhas from the British Army worked more than 86,000 construction hours on the project, while following the guidance issued by the Construction Leadership Council.
Interserve will now continue to work at the NHS Nightingale Hospital Birmingham to increase patient bed capacity up to 4,000 beds.
