Prime minister Theresa May has announced that Turner & Townsend has been appointed by the Canadian government to oversee a major refurbishment of part of the Canadian parliamentary complex in Ottawa.
As she flew into Ottawa for talks with Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, May announced the £34m deal to manage the refurbishment of the Centre Block, the core component of the Parliament Hill complex in the Canadian capital.
As the institutional home of Canada’s system of parliamentary democracy, the Centre Block is at the very heart of Canada’s political and cultural landscape. It houses the House of Commons and Senate chambers, as well as offices for MPs, senators and the senior administration of both houses.
