Baxall
Maidstone-based Baxall Construction is looking to meet or exceed the £3,000 it raised last year for local food banks, at the end of what has been another tough year for many people.
Baxall will donate to food banks in the South East, from the Medway towns and north Kent, down to east Kent and into Surrey and East Sussex. Any gifts that Baxall receives will be auctioned to its staff and proceeds added to the food bank fund.
Decipher
Consultant Decipher is due to present two cheques in the next two weeks for £4,000 each to Mencap and Scoliosis Association UK as a result of its charity work this year.
Farrans
Farrans construction has raised £5,000 by making financial donations to charity in place of Christmas cards and gifts. The money has been split across five groups within the different regions it works in:
- The Trussell Trust - Stop UK Hunger
- Simon on the Streets
- Aberdeen Foyer
- Cork Penny Dinners
- Cancer Fund for Children
Farrans has also made a donation of more than 200 refurbished laptops to schools in Africa through Camara Education.
Jackson Jackson & Sons
Rochdale-based Jackson Jackson & Sons has raised a total of £2,000 for the Principle Trust in Skipton, which provides holidays and short breaks to families of ill and disadvantaged children across Yorkshire. The charity is in the process of trying to raise £150,000 to fund a new holiday lodge. Jackson Jackson raised its contribution in donations from staff, operatives, contractors, supply chain partners and directors.
Kier
Kier has planned a range of activities throughout December to support its charity partner End Youth Homelessness, with the aim of raising £10,000.
On 10 December it held a ‘Festive Clobber’ day, showcasing the best and worst of workers’ festive attire, as well as a ‘Bake Off’. Morgan Sindall
Morgan Sindall has undertaken a range of Christmas giving initiatives, including free hot meals to people who need them on 28 December at its Plot C1 residential scheme at New Bailey, Salford. Meals will be provided by Morgan Sindall’s on-site caterer Pit Stop Catering and Morgan Sindall will provide support on its own time over the Christmas shut-down period.
The contractor is also collecting toys and gifts in Gorton, for the Wood Street Mission in Manchester, and warm clothing for Salford Loaves & Fishes.
And it recently donated 400 selection boxes to Woodside Ferry Village’s Santa’s grotto to help deprived families from Birkenhead, as well as collecting further selection boxes for children at St Philips School in Salford and North Manchester General Hospital.
Finally, it is also donating toys to Charles Thompson Mission in Birkenhead.
MPMH Construction
Glasgow-based MPMH construction is raising money on behalf of the NHS Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, which it has supported for the last several years. This year, the company has sponsored two children’s wards 2C (Acute receiving) and 3B (Surgery & Gastro) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, to enable Christmas trees and decorations to be supplied.
Meanwhile, a total of 16 of its staff have volunteered to spend half a day each to carry out collections, gift wrapping, offer raffle tickets to win the grand prize of a car, and even dress up as elves to assist Santa at various shopping centres in Glasgow.
