Birmingham City FC has appointed Mace to complete the remedial works to the lower Tilton and Kop stands at St Andrew’s after contractor Buckingham Group collapsed into administration.

The two stands have been partially closed since December 2020 due to corrosion and asbestos damage beneath the stadium.

Birmingham City said Mace will be responsible for the management of all subcontractors working on the St Andrew’s master redevelopment job.

Once the works are completed, the Kop lower stand will accommodate an additional 3,600 fans. It will bring the total capacity of the St Andrew’s stadium to almost 30,000.
