London construction workers urged to walk or cycle to site

Transport for London (TfL) has urged construction workers to walk or cycle all or part of their journey.

The organisation also called on employers to change operating hours or stagger shifts to help people avoid the busiest travel times (0545 to 0815 and 1600 to 1730).

TfL said that it would ensure “alternative routes” remain available for construction traffic as it launches its Streetspace for London plan to include new cycleways and widened footpaths to encourage more walking and cycling. But it warned that works to make the changes could affect kerbside access for deliveries at some locations and times.
