Housing secretary Robert Jenrick has told the developer of a London tower block partially clad in ACM cladding where a fire broke on Friday (7 May) of his "deep disappointment" that remediation work to the building was delayed.

Two people were taken to hospital following the fire at the 19-storey block at Ballymore's New Providence Wharf in Poplar, which took hold on Friday morning. Parts of the eighth, ninth and 10th floors. Efforts to bring the fire under control involved 125 firefighters and 20 appliances.

The London Fire Brigade said 38 adults and four children were treated by ambulance crews at the scene for shock and smoke inhalation, and two men were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
