LABC has announced the final piece in its three-year skills programme with the launch of a BSc (Hons) degree in Public Service Building Control Surveying at Wolverhampton University.
The LABC skills initiative set out to identify the competencies of local authority building control staff, to standardise learning across the discipline and to introduce new specialist qualifications.
So far LABC has established a national framework for measuring the competency of building control professionals and a building control apprenticeship standard has been developed and rubber stamped, with support from CIOB, the University of Wolverhampton and the Institute of Fire Engineers.
