Kier targets ‘net zero’ by 2045

Kier has trialled a range-extended electric 'incident response' vehicle as part of its efforts to reduce carbon emissions within the business

Kier has announced plans to achieve net zero carbon across its own operations and its supply chain by 2045.

In its new sustainability framework, Building for a Sustainable World, Kier also unveiled plans to eliminate avoidable waste by 2035 and become single-use plastic free by 2030.

Chief executive Andrew Davies will be the contractor’s executive committee sustainability lead, with a series of six working groups organised within the business to tackle: pollution prevention; responsible sourcing’; carbon impact; zero waste; and protection of habitats and natural resources.
