An investigation is underway after two workers were injured when two mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) collided on the railway between Rochford and Southend Airport stations.
The incident, under investigation by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB), occurred on 25 January this year.
A MEWP travelling at around 9.2mph collided with a similar stationary machine. Two people were in the stationary MEWP, working on overhead line equipment. They were both thrown against the railings of the machine’s basket and suffered severe bruising and back injuries which prevented them from working for some time.
