Fragmented construction ‘slow’ on fire safety, says Hackitt group

While it welcomed the progress made by representatives from the industry who have attended ISSG meetings and praised the Competence Steering Group for making “significant progress” on its proposals for an overarching system for competence, the ISSG warned that outside early adopters prioritising building and fire safety, progress across parts of construction had been slow.

It said: “[This is] due in part to its fragmented nature. In too many cases, organisations remain unwilling to share best practice.”

It warned there was “still much more work to do to ensure that the message of culture change reaches the whole of industry” and that the industry needed to have a plan of work to address this in more detail.
