Specialist demolition contractor Brown and Mason has taken over the dubious honour of being the slowest payer among Build UK’s payment performance league table.
Launched earlier this summer and updated recently, the table now shows that Brown and Mason is the slowest of Build UK’s members to pay, taking an average of 103 days to pay invoices and failing to pay 66% of invoices within agreed terms.
That puts it above Murphy Group, which was found to take an average of 66 days and previously held the title of Build UK’s slowest payer when the league table was first revealed in July this year.
Meanwhile, Clugston becomes the fastest of the contractors to pay, taking an average of 32 days to pay, ahead of Willmott Dixon on 33 days.
Several other specialist contractors have been added to the list, including specialist concrete contractor Tamdown, which takes an average of 62 days to pay, with 24% of invoices not paid within agreed terms.
Laing O’Rourke’s specialist division Expanded Structures takes an average of 61 days to pay invoices, with 28% not paid within agreed terms.
And specialist contractor Byrne Brothers takes an average of 55 days, with 0% not paid within agreed terms.
Other specialists to have been added to the list include William Hare (an average of 51 days to pay), Billington (49 days), McGee Group (47 days), Severfield (46 days), Getjar (45 days), Cementation Skanska (43 days), Erith (39 days), AJ Morrisroe (38 days), Carey Group (36 days), Keller (33 days).
Other contractors to join the list included Osborne (taking an average of 47 days to pay), and Seddon (44 days).
Clients to join the list include: Great Portland Estates (46 days), Berkeley Homes (24 days), Heathrow (21 days), Landsec (19 days), and British Land (14 days).
Two professional services firms were also added to the table. RLB takes an average of 44 days to pay, while Arup takes 32 days.
