Construction output dipped by 2% in April, following a surge of 5.8% in March, the latest official figures have revealed.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that April output stood slightly (0.3%) above the pre-pandemic February 2020 level, with new work still subdued by a stronger level of repair and maintenance work.
In April, new work fell by 2.9%, while repair and maintenance was down 0.6%.
New work was still 3.4% below the February 2020 level, while repair and maintenance was 7.1% above.
