John Bloor owns one of the UK’s largest privately owned housebuilders, Bloor Homes. His company, Bloor Holdings, also owns Triumph Motorcycles. He was 85th in the list, up from 129th last year, with a total estimated wealth of £2.079bn.
Yelena Baturina is a London-based Russian businesswoman. She founded Inteco in 1991. The company started out dealing with computer software and hardware, but branched out into construction in the mid-1990s, producing materials for facade work, cement, brick, concrete, and architectural design. She is worth an estimated £1.133bn and sits in 160th= position, down from 153rd last year.
The Kirkland family owns the Bowmer + Kirkland Group, founded in 1923 and based in Derbyshire. The business handles projects of £1m to more than £130m and also offers construction-related services and security. Former chairman John N Kirkland, whose grandfather co-founded the company, died last year. The family is in 207th place, up from 212th= last year and is worth an estimated £803m.
Liverpool-born Steve Morgan, the son of a plant operator, founded housebuilder Redrow in the 1970s. He stepped down as chairman in 2000, but returned to the board in 2009 to revive the business. He retired in 2019. He is worth an estimated £789m and sits in 210th position in the list, down from 185th.
Charles Gallagher and family own private housebuilder Abbey. They are worth an estimated £669m and occupy 241st place, up from 243rd.
John McCarthy founded retirement living builder McCarthy & Stone in 1963, before retiring in 2004. Brothers Spencer and Clinton McCarthy founded Churchill Retirement Living together, while John McCarthy serves as non-executive director. Together, they are worth an estimated £662m and are in 244th place, down from 230th.
