
The Construction Innovation Hub and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) have formed a partnership to drive the development of policy on construction and help deliver the government’s focus on platform design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA).
Visitors to the recent London Build 2021 event got their first look at the work of the Hub and CIOB, which focuses on designing integrated, manufactured components and sub-assemblies that will adhere to new interface standards.
There was also a demonstration of how the creation of a rulebook will support wider adoption, and delivery of multiple building types through the creation of a standard kit of parts which can be deployed across multiple business types, the development of further platforms and the testing and development of new manufacturing approaches based upon a digitised workflow
