The number of people employed in the construction industry has stayed flat at around 1.36m – the same level as two years ago.
Official numbers released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) yesterday for April to June 2018 showed that while unemployment was at its lowest since 1975 across the whole economy, the number of people directly employed in construction has broadly flatlined.
The most recent count of people employed in the sector was slightly down on the previous quarter (January to March 2018) when it stood at 1.38m.
