The newly appointed executive chairman of the Considerate Constructors Scheme is to replace the Scheme’s entire board of directors, apart from its chief executive, it was announced this week.
Isabel Martinson, appointed in July 2016, said she was looking to recruit new board directors to take the scheme to the “next level” to further enhance the construction industry’s image and reputation.
All of the board’s current members, apart from chief executive Edward Hardy, will step down as part of the move, including current chairman Mike Petter and Balfour Beatty director Albert Ree.

The organisation will be targeting individuals with expertise in areas of marketing and communications, finance, commercial contracts and outsourcing.
The new board of up to 12 individuals will include an independent executive chairman, a non-executive service and performance chairman, and a non-executive chairman who will lead on financial management.
Its members will be required to attend at least four CCS board meetings annually and will be paid £3,000 a year, plus additional payment for sub-committee appearances.
Martinson commented: “The CCS provides a hugely important and influential role in helping to enhance the construction industry’s reputation to the public, those within the industry and the government. I look forward to working with a team of newly appointed board directors to shape the future reputation of the construction industry through the Considerate Constructors Scheme.”
The CCS would make no further comment on its developments.
