The champion assessment helps companies identify potential issues and develop continuous improvement plans to advance their approach to building safety. A total of 12 companies have achieved champion status so far, including Morgan Sindall, Galliford Try and Barratt Developments
Working together to promote building safety
BSF wants to encourage CIOB members to engage with it as a resource to assist in its building safety improvement work.
CIOB and BSF said they intend to explore opportunities for further collaboration and promote the benefits of engaging with BSF as a registered charter signatory and champion.
Eddie Tuttle, director of policy, external affairs and research at CIOB, said: “Safety must always be the top priority for our industry which has a responsibility not only to those people it employs, but the people it builds for.
“While building safety has advanced there is still much to do and we are delighted to be working alongside Building a Safer Future to drive positive change. Such partnerships are important to enhance quality and safety in the built environment sector, which is a key theme in our current corporate plan.”
Gary Townsend Vila, interim chief executive of BSF, added: “We are delighted to formalise our strategic partnership with the CIOB, with whom we have so many shared goals in supporting organisations to drive positive building safety leadership and cultural change.
“We are looking forward to working with them to support organisations in advancing their approach to building safety and reducing their risk profile. This is just the beginning of the work we will be doing together in this area.”
