The CCPI aims to raise standards in construction product information and marketing and to create an environment where product information is “clear, accurate, accessible, up-to-date and unambiguous”.
The code was initiated and developed by the Construction Product Association (CPA) in response to Dame Judith Hackitt’s independent review of building regulations and fire safety following the Grenfell Tower fire.

The review found that the product labelling and marketing regime was “opaque and insufficient” and called for “clearer labelling and product traceability”.
Paul Nash, CIOB past president and chair of the institute’s quality implementation group, said: “The CIOB is committed to raising standards and promoting best practice in building safety and fully supports the aims and objectives of the CCPI.”

Nash added: “Our members need to have confidence that the products they are procuring and installing are safe and that the information about them is reliable. The code is an important move to build back trust in construction product information and marketing and drive positive culture change across the sector.”
In August, CIOB published a free guide that provides designers, specifiers and installers with information to make informed decisions about the safe use of construction products.
The Guide to Products Critical to Safe Construction, which CIOB says has been downloaded almost 800 times to date, was produced in collaboration with several industry bodies, including the CPA and CCPI. The guide signposts to the CCPI.
Amanda Long, chief executive of CPI, the independent not-for-profit organisation set up to manage the CCPI, said: “I am delighted that CIOB has joined as a CCPI organisation associate.
