The Construction Industry Council has published a draft competence framework for sustainability in the built environment. It is intended to become a part of the BS 8670 Competence series.
The framework has been developed in collaboration with campaigning built environment think tank Edge, the University College of Estate Management and an industrywide advisory panel comprising representatives from tier 1 contractors, central government departments, built environment professional bodies, and others.
BS 8670 is a standard that establishes core criteria for building safety competence. It covers the knowledge, skills, experience, and behaviours needed to work on buildings of all types and scales. It is the successor to BSI Flex 8670, which began transitioning into BS 8670 in 2022.
