Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is rolling out its data academy with training provider Multiverse.
The contractor first engaged with Multiverse in late 2023. The first cohort to graduate from Multiverse’s courses saw a 14% increase in individual efficiency during the programme – equating to more than 7,200 hours saved per year.

Apprentices have used improved data skills to drive “tangible business outcomes”, according to the contractor, from mitigating weather-related project delays to reducing workplace safety incidents, and increasing visibility of potential quality issues.
The vast majority of the graduating cohort achieved a distinction.
Motif builds team with more ex-Autodesk names
BIM software startup Motif has beefed up its senior management team with the addition of Jens Majdal Kaarsholm as director of industry and market development, Greg Demchak as vice-president of industry and market development, and Tatjana Dzambazova as director of AI solutions in the CTO office.
Kaarsholm joins from Bjarke Ingels Group, where he was director of design technology. Earlier in his career, he worked for Foster + Partners.
Demchak joins from Bentley Systems, where he was vice-president for emerging technologies. Prior to that, Demchak was a director at Synchro and before that spent nearly 11 years at Autodesk.
Dzambazova joins from Ideo where she was executive director for emerging technologies. She spent nearly 20 years at Autodesk, ultimately responsible for AI strategy in the CTO office.
Consultancies embrace AI
Consultancies and engineering firms are enjoying the benefits of implementing AI, according to new research from Deltek. The vast majority (82%) of the 200 survey respondents believe that the successful implementation of AI has already had a significant impact on increasing
their profits.
A similar percentage of firms have created, or plan to create, new job roles or departments dedicated to implementing AI.
An indication that further innovation is needed is that 75% of the respondents are concerned about not being able to automate processes that need it.
New reality capture device from Topcon
Topcon Positioning Systems launched the CR-H1 reality capture device at the recent Bauma show in Germany. The system uses PIX4Dcatch, an app that runs on iPhones with integrated LiDAR that collects images and employs photogrammetry to create detailed, full-colour 3D point clouds.
The iPhone connects to Topcon’s HiPer CR receiver, enabling the app to collect geo-referenced images. The receiver and phone are both mounted on a handle designed and manufactured by Topcon, so users can capture point clouds without the need for a tripod.
The solution is designed for professionals and new users alike, across multiple disciplines.
Project delivery consultation
The industry has until 11am on 6 May to respond to the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Project Delivery's inquiry into improving the delivery of national infrastructure projects.
The inquiry will assess the barriers to successful project delivery, the effectiveness of the current approach, and opportunities for improvement. A key focus will be on the ways in which project management best practices from the UK and internationally can drive improved results.
