Barratt to accelerate MMC to 30% of completions by 2025

Of the 4,393 homes it completed in 2021, 3,003 were timber frame, while roof cassettes were used in 696, offsite ground floors in 360, and large format block in 334.

Barratt said: “We are now able to use MMC on the right sites to compete with traditional brick and block construction, mainly due to the time savings we have been able to obtain.”

It added that factory-assembled timber frames would form a “key aspect” of its carbon reduction strategy.

The news came as Barratt revealed a 40.7% increase in revenue for the year to 30 June 2021 to £4.8bn, as it bounced back from the covid-19 pandemic. Pretax profit was up 65.1% to £812.2m.
