It will be used by Blairgowrie High School for its physical education curriculum, as well as the local community.
The centre will replace Perthshire town’s current 41-year-old facility and is due for completion in late 2024/early 2025.
Perth & Kinross Council is funding the project and Hub East Central Scotland, a joint public-private sector organisation partnership, is responsible for its delivery.
