The government has set aside £6.2m to speed up the construction of a new road around Didcot.
The cash injection was announced by housing minister Alok Sharma and will see the long-awaited Northern Perimeter Road receive funding which is hoped will boost housing in the area.
The road is seen as crucial to the success of the Didcot Garden Town initiative which plans to build 15,000 new homes by 2031 along with facilities such as schools, shops and a leisure centre.
