The government will need to deliver 450,000 homes in its final year if it wants to meet its target of 1.5m homes by 2029, according to the projections of a new report.
Cross-sector membership organisation The Housing Forum calculated in its report The road to 1.5 million new homes that housing delivery will need to reach 450,000 in 2028/9 to achieve the 1.5m target, a number not seen since 1968.
This estimate takes into account the fact that housing completions are due to slump to around 160,000 in the current year.
