The British Constructional Steelwork Association and Steel for Life have announced the shortlist for the 56th Structural Steel Design Awards.
A total of 21 projects made it to the final selection. Each highlights steel’s flexibility and versatility across diverse applications in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
The shortlisted projects are:

- Institute of Health and Wellbeing, Glasgow

- Maggie’s Royal Free Hospital, London
- Market Gate Footbridge, Barnsley
- n2 Nova Evolved, London
- NOMA 4 Angel Square, Manchester
- One Great Cumberland Place, London
- Paddington Square, London
- Plot 7B New Bailey, Manchester
- Sky Innovation Centre, London
- Sky Studios Elstree, Borehamwood
Jonathan Clemens, chief executive officer of the British Constructional Steelwork Association, said: “Since their inception in 1969, the Structural Steel Design Awards have showcased exemplary steelwork projects in the UK and Ireland, which are exceptional when measured on a global benchmark. The UK and Ireland remain at the forefront in their use of steel as a construction material. Steel solutions provide low-carbon, high-quality structures designed with reuse in mind.
