World’s first smart construction helmet launched
CM Staff
A ‘smart’ construction helmet has been launched that can detect falls and impacts, discern the likely consequences and automatically call for help if necessary.
The Armet PRO helmet is part of Båstadgruppen’s Guardio brand and is equipped with integrated sensor technology from Quin.
The Quin system is incorporated with Mips technology and enables the helmet to accurately measure motion and forces in three dimensions, 1,000 times per second. It monitors the safety of the wearer and in the event of a fall, an object falling from height or any other type of impact, analyses what has happened across a range of parameters to determine whether help is needed.

lf the safety threshold is breached, via the wearer's smartphone the Quin system sends an automatic alert to the registered contacts detailing the location and nature of the detected event.
The Armet Pro can also track a worker’s return to a safe zone, sending emergency alerts if the worker does not return as expected.
Sensors can detect accidents and inform safety personnel via smartphones
The Armet PRO is the result of scientific testing combined with the involvement of end-users. In the development process, Guardio gained invaluable insights from end-users at construction company Arcona, part of Veidekke – one of Scandinavia’s largest construction contractors. Through this process, Guardio gained invaluable insights, and will continue to gather them to drive continuous improvement in the development of the next product.
‘Highest level of safety’
“We are excited to be a part of the development process for the Armet PRO. Safety is a top priority for us, and collaborating with Guardio to test and evaluate the new helmet allows us to contribute valuable insights to ensure the highest level of safety and performance. We look forward to seeing how this product can enhance safety on our construction sites,” said Björn Nauclér, health safety manager at Arcona.
Guardio was the first brand to launch a safety helmet with the Mips brain protection system for industrial safety helmets, and now takes the innovation available within its range to the next level.
”It’s incredibly exciting to collaborate with our strategic partners, Mips, which provide technical solutions aiming to reduce the risk of brain injuries, and Quin, to create even better products that, again, set a new standard in our industry. Together, we are working towards our vision of zero fatalities in the construction and industrial sectors,” said Nawar Toma, category manager at Guardio.
The November/December 2025 issue of Construction Management magazine is now available to read in digital format.
