What is it like to win at the Digital Construction Awards? Two winners from the 2024 event reveal all.
ONE Engage, developed by ONE Creative Environments, won the Product Innovation of the Year category at the Digital Construction Awards 2024. The platform addresses the complex challenge of managing digital information in the residential sector for landlords, residents and fire and rescue services.
Reflecting on collecting the trophy nearly eight months ago, ONE director Jason Whittall said: “To win any Digital Construction Award trophy is a huge privilege, but the Product Innovation of the Year was the one that I really wanted!

“Our new platform, ONE Engage, helps landlords solve very tricky challenges around resident engagement required by the new Building Safety Act. Having the opportunity for our product to be independently evaluated by respected judges offers a rare opportunity for us to seek expert opinion from respected peers. So to win the award against strong competition really provides us with the reassurance that we’ve been innovating in the right direction, and have created something that can genuinely help improve resident safety.”
An incredible experience
Meanwhile, Laing O’Rourke digital engineer Ben Hardie was named Digital Rising Star of the Year. He joined Laing O’Rourke straight from sixth form as part of the organisation’s school and college leaver programme, where he went on to study for his degree. As he progressed his career in the company, he transitioned to digital engineering, which is where he found his passion, citing its multidisciplinary nature and presence across business functions.
He said: “Winning the award was an incredible experience. The evening was super fun, and it was amazing to rub shoulders with so many digital leaders in the industry. Being nominated alone was a huge honour, but winning was surreal. It was a privilege to be recognised for the work I’ve done, especially alongside such equally deserving peers.
“The acknowledgement received has been a great encouragement to me, but what has made this award even more special is the opportunity to support new starters in the industry. Seeing people on similar journeys to mine reach out for advice has been a full-circle moment and a rewarding part of the experience.”

The shortlisted entrants will be revealed on 6 May. The trophies will be awarded to the winners at a gala dinner on 1 July at The Brewery in London.
