Public procurement specialist Scape has bought the Construction Waste Portal to help reduce construction waste, environmental impact, and carbon.

Currently around 60m tonnes of waste are produced by the construction sector each year and around £1.4bn per year in profit is lost though overspend on waste.

The portal is a digital crowdsourced platform that helps contractors predict, plan, and prevent waste using data, as well as connecting to waste management specialists.

Scape hopes the portal can help it better forecast and manage project waste for local authority and other public sector organisation projects, while also offering savings for the public purse.
