A new training scheme has been launched to help improve competence in damp proof course (DPC) installation.
The scheme will focus on delivering third-party assessed qualifications and digital verification tools aimed at raising the benchmark for professionalism and safety in construction.

The training programme, approved by CITB and delivered through the National Masonry Academy, consists of a one-day course that includes both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
It is specifically tailored around the installation of Visqueen’s DPC systems, using the industry-standard Installing Specialist Cloak Systems module.
Training can be provided either on-site or at one of the affiliated training centres.

Strengthening integrity
To support ongoing competency and compliance, the National Masonry Association has introduced the Visqueen Register of Approved Installers – Continuous On-site Competency App.
Designed for installers who complete training with the National Masonry Academy, the app allows users – including installers, employers and administrators – to verify and track professional competence in real time.

“As the industry adapts to the demands of the Building Safety Act, initiatives like this are essential for building trust, improving outcomes and futureproofing the workforce.”
