Tier 1 contractors call for new ‘flexible skills levy’

Ahead of the 4 July general election, the UK’s largest contractors have published a series of recommendations for the next government

The Blueprint for Growth outlines 12 infrastructure and construction priorities to boost the UK’s growth and productivity.

Among the key recommendations are calls for the existing apprenticeship levy to be replaced by a new skills levy, as well as a more flexible immigration system to help alleviate skills gaps across the industry. 

The report has been produced by AtkinsRéalis, Balfour Beatty, BAM, Costain, Galliford Try, Laing O’Rourke, Mace, Morgan Sindall, Mott MacDonald, Vinci, VolkerWessels and WSP.
