The steering group is supporting 3B Training’s in-house team to develop course content, assessments and delivery materials.
The wider £250,000 CITB pilot project was launched in August and aims to accelerate building safety remediation across the country.
Deadline for remediation works
The launch of the new training programme comes amid fresh government figures on the pace of remediation.
According to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s latest data release for buildings of 11m and above in England, remediation works have been completed on just 35% of the 5,554 buildings identified up to the end of August 2025.
Under the Remediation Acceleration Plan, ministers have set a target to remediate all buildings of 18m and over by 2029.
The end of 2029 is also the deadline for all buildings of 11m and over with unsafe cladding to have either been remediated or have a date for completion, or the associated landlords will be liable for penalties.
'Technically robust' training
The new programme focuses on the correct specification and installation of rainscreen cladding systems, fire performance measures including cavity barriers and interfaces, inspection and supervision procedures, legal duties and competence under the Building Safety Act regime, and practical on‑rig assessments to evidence competence.

“Our role is to ensure this content is technically robust, up to date with the regulatory landscape, and directly applicable on site.”
Bookings are now open for the initial schedule, with Rainscreen Cladding Installer and Rainscreen Cladding Supervisor courses to be run in Blackburn, Doncaster, Derby and Glasgow.
