Homebuilder is working with local colleges to attract future construction professionals to the industry
Persimmon Homes has welcomed 12 students to its site in Kilwinning, Scotland to provide practical experience of working in construction.
The construction students, who are currently studying for a Pre-Apprenticeship Award at Ayrshire College, had the opportunity to tour Persimmon's Byrehill Grange development and gain insight into the process of building new homes.
The homebuilder works with construction colleges across Scotland to create career opportunities for young people through its apprenticeship programme.

Laurence Watson, construction manager at Persimmon West Scotland, said: “We were delighted to welcome the next generation of construction professionals to our Byrehill Grange development.
“The construction industry offers fantastic opportunities for young people to build a successful career. I'm confident the students now have a clearer understanding of what we do, and I hope to see some of them join Persimmon in the future.”
Fraser Doyle, carpentry and joinery lecturer at Ayrshire College, added: “Our pre-apprentice students were delighted to have the opportunity to tour the Persimmon site and greatly appreciated the time the construction team spent with them and the insights they provided about careers in the construction industry.
“Visits like this are invaluable for our students, allowing them to experience a live site and bring to life what they are learning in college as well as equip them with the knowledge and inspiration they need to take the next steps in their careers.”
