The 15mm Interlude grid is part of Armstrong’s designer range, being developed for creative ceiling solutions as well as quick and easy installation, and is manufactured using steel with high levels of recycled content. The tiles, a total of 10 in the three product types, include Perla OP 0.95 which recently became the first mineral tile in the world to win Cradle to Cradle certification.
All the tiles form part of Armstrong’s recycling programmes, performing acoustically up to Class A and to ISO 5 for indoor air quality as well as featuring up to 87% light reflectance to minimise the requirement for artificial light.
The complete system is designed to help specifiers attain the highest number of green building credits using tools such as BREEAM, Ska*1 and LEED*2 as well as help contractors achieve cost savings by diverting waste from landfill.
Armstrong’s senior segment manager for sustainability, Jeremy Sumeray, said: “The launch of our HRC offer demonstrates the high environmental qualities of our tiles and grid but as a complete system. We are the first UK manufacturer to offer this.”
1 Ska Rating is an RICS-led and owned environmental assessment method, benchmark and standard for non-domestic fit-outs.
2 LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally recognised green building certification system. Developed by the US Green Building Council, it provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
