NHS Property Services (NHS PS) has appointed Hark Systems to design the ecosystem for its Smarter Buildings Programme.

The Smarter Buildings Programme aims to implement an ecosystem, designed by Hark, that will allow NHS PS to collect, input, archive, analyse and report on its estate information in a consistent and efficient way. This ecosystem will allow NHS PS to react to facility and management information in real-time and control buildings remotely through a digital twin environment by integrating software into its building management systems.

IoT sensors, building management systems, AI and augmented reality are among the technology that will be included for NHS PS to control and optimise estate performance in future.

Established in 2013, NHS PS owns more than 3,600 NHS facilities, one of the largest property portfolios in the UK.
