My journey to understanding COBie part 1: where to start

Adams has worked for consultants and contractors since the late 1990s, primarily in building services and critical infrastructure, with exposure to architecture and structural design. Since moving from AutoCAD to Revit in the 2000s, Adams has been pushing for more joined-up design and improved efficiency of delivery.

In this first instalment of a five-part series, he shares the start of his journey through COBie.

COBie: it’s a term that makes a lot of people cry, panic, maybe feel a little depressed. When I was working for consultants and contractors I never really understood it. I never got the point of it, couldn’t see any benefit and all the guidance just explained the framework and failed to provide relevant examples.
