Alex Lubbock (above left), the government’s head of digital construction, is to return to BIMobject UK as managing director. He will replace current managing director David Jellings (above right), who is retiring on 31 December.
Jellings, a well-known industry figure and a leading light in BIM adoption said: “After over 40 years working in the UK and overseas, the last 15 in construction, the time has come for me to retire. I have very much enjoyed working with some exceptional people in the digital environment and plan to continue following the industry from the sidelines.

“I am delighted that my successor is Alex, as I know we share the same values and ambitions for the industry. I wish him well,” he added.
Lubbock has been on secondment from BIMobject to the Infrastructure and Projects Authority for over two years, reporting to the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury. He has been supporting departmental delivery of the BIM Level 2 mandate and has led the adoption of smarter infrastructure including digital and manufacturing technologies across central government through the Transforming Infrastructure Performance Programme. He has been instrumental in driving the agenda across the public sector to platform-based solutions.
Lubbock said: “Congratulations to David on his retirement. Without the foresight, integrity and ambition shown by him and others across industry, we would not now be on the cusp of the digital industrialisation of the sector. This is the most exciting industry to be in today.

Working for the UK government has been a fantastic opportunity for me and I give special thanks to all my colleagues there. I look forward to working collaboratively with the construction, manufacturing and technology sectors, to accelerate the transformation of construction and deliver real change in the future.”
BIMobject offers cloud-based platforms, with around 1,550 manufacturers providing digital product information.
Around the cloud-based platforms, which currently have over 1,5 million users, BIMobject offers a number of solutions aimed at manufacturers, property owners, architects/designers and construction companies and the trade sector.
BIMobject, founded in 2011, operates in 20 countries and has more than 200 employees.
