Given this, for me the highlight of 2024 was Digital Construction Week in June. The nima stand was packed both days, with lots of inspiring conversation and potential for collaboration.

What are you looking forward to professionally in 2025?
As well as looking forward to another successful Digital Construction Week in 2025, I am very excited about the Information Management Initiative (IMI), which was launched at nima’s Autumn Virtual Conference and already has nearly 20 sponsors/supporters. With essential sponsorship needed from parties truly willing to improve information management for all, nima will continue to drive this sector-wide programme in 2025.
Please get your organisation involved, because all this can’t be done without many organisations and their people collaborating.
What does the industry need to do more (or less of) in 2025?
I’ve said it twice already, but I’ll say it again: what we all need to do is find a way of working together and collaborating more. I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t want to see the same beneficial outcomes, but sometimes these are crowded out by other incentives. Nima is always looking for ideas to help increase collaboration, so please let us know your thoughts.
Do you have any festive rituals?
I’m not one for Christmas, in fact I don’t celebrate it at all, but good for you if you do and you enjoy it. I do appreciate some time off at this time of year though, when others are also getting a well-deserved break – we all relish returning to fewer emails than when we take breaks at other times of the year.
Recommend a book, podcast, TV series, film or album that you enjoyed in 2024
I have always been very interested in music, but I hesitate to suggest any because my favourite music genre is jazz, something not beloved by all. For those of you in that category, please don’t say you hate jazz: it’s such a massive genre with so much variety – give it a go! I would recommend corto.alto’s latest album 30/108 – all 30 tracks. And yes, before you say it, that is what it’s like in my head… (as a boss used to say to me when I pulled up in my car each morning blasting out my latest music obsession).
