A task group, led by nima chair Anne Kemp OBE, has been set up to draft the mandate’s revision. According to nima, the task group is consulting with members across the built and managed environment to collate insights and feedback surrounding the approach, its scope, presentation and implementation plan.

A key objective of the group is to ensure transparency and inclusivity throughout the revision process, as well as ensuring the work will apply to everyone across industry, regardless of their digital maturity.
Last October Kemp told BIMplus: “We had a nudge from the Department for Business and Trade, saying the mandate would be much better if it was strengthened by industry.
“What we can do is bring out the strength of the ISO 19650 series – so that doesn’t change. But we’re going to drive at whole-life. And that it’s data-driven.
“[The revision] will strengthen the mandate [to] make it more appealing, much clearer why and what the opportunities are, why it’s worth doing it, and ensure it’s much more about collaboration.”
As well as Kemp, the task group includes representatives from the British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers Association, the Information Management For Public Services group, BSI, buildingSMART UK and Ireland, Sellafield, Heathrow Airport and HS2.
