HP updates SitePrint robot, unveils collaboration platform

HP has launched a cloud-based collaboration platform in beta mode and revealed updates for its SitePrint setting out robot.
HP Build Workspace, as the platform is known, enables users to capture and organise site observations (adding tags, notes and voice messages to photos), pinpoint exact locations, and store information in a project management workspace, according to HP.
The platform also automates time-consuming tasks: for example, it automatically generates field reports, and can convert drawings into CAD-editable files.

HP Build Workspace coordinates everyone via a mobile and desktop app. “The intuitive interface welcomes users from any professional background and skill levels,” HP said.
Interested parties can request to be involved in the platform’s beta testing.
The unveiling of Build Workspace at HP’s annual product innovation event follows the launch of its SitePrint robot last year. The robot, which has been used by companies including the Vinci/Sir Robert McAlpine joint venture, Skanska, John Sisk, Ferrovial and McLaughlin & Harvey, can connect with the platform.
The updated robot’s print point is now 30% faster and offers “boosted navigation speed and improved robotic capabilities”. HP is working with large SitePrint customers on a proof-of-concept that enables the robot to check surface flatness. This will be available as a subscription service in selected markets by 2025.
Daniel Martinez, global head and general manager of HP large format business, said: “By simplifying complexity, improving communication and automating manual processes between the office and field sites, HP Build Workspace reduces construction project lead times from three days to as little as 20 minutes, depending on design complexity.”
