Hack_Construct, the first hackathon focused on the construction sector outside London, is to take place in Glasgow in February at the instigation of Darren Lester of SpecifiedBy and Ryan Tennyson, an associate at WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff and member of the BIM2050 group.
The event, which will take place from 26-28 February, at the Whisky Bond in Glasgow (pictured above) aims to bring together a mix of industry professionals and digital experts, hackers and makers to work on solving construction challenges via digital solutions.

The event is being organised and delivered by the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre with support from Innovate UK, the Data Lab Scotland and the Knowledge Transfer Network.
Over the course of the weekend, attendees at Hack_Construct will form into teams to tackle various challenges, then present their findings to the other attendees.
Lester is the founder of digital products database SpecifiedBy. Announcing the hackathon on LinkedIn, he said: “The aim of the event is to expose talented software developers, designers, data scientists, web designers, gamers and more to the opportunities in the construction industry, and give industry professionals a glimpse into what can be achieved by utilising these skill sets.”
