DfE plans virtual launch for accelerated schools framework

The Department for Education (DfE) has invited contractors to take part in a virtual meeting to discuss procurement plans for a new school building framework.

The government unveiled plans for a “transformative” school construction programme in England at the end of June. The ten-year programme will start in 2020-21 with the first 50 projects supported by over £1bn in funding.

Now the DfE has set up a market engagement event, to be held on Microsoft Teams, for its new 2021 construction framework.

The department said it wanted to engage with the construction market about the independent procurement of the new framework, as well as setting out how the current framework has performed.

It will also explore how DfE intends to consult with contractors to gather feedback that will be used to inform the design of the new framework.

Two virtual meetings will be held on 28 and 29 July, with the content of each meeting the same. A maximum of two people per firm can register here. Registration closes on 22 July.
