CIOB Awards 2024 winners announced

Galliford Try’s Barry Kingscote has been crowned CIOB Construction Manager of the Year, while NAWIC Yorkshire campaign manager Katy Robinson was awarded for her commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Galliford Try project manager Barry Kingscote (pictured above) has scooped the prestigious CIOB Construction Manager of the Year at the CIOB Awards 2024.
He received the award from host June Sarpong OBE and CIOB president Sandi Rhys-Jones (pictured above, left and right) at a packed Hilton London Metropole last night (9 April) following a glittering black tie ceremony.

Kingscote fended off competition from more than 85 finalists across 13 different categories to claim the top gong for his work to develop a unique office space directly adjacent to one of London’s most prestigious landmarks – Marble Arch.
He described the project as the most complex in his four decades-long career in construction. The completed building in 1-4 Marble Arch provides 57,000 square feet of contemporary office space across seven floors.
Speaking after picking up his award, Kingscote, who also claimed the top prize in the Construction Manager commercial category, said he was delighted to be recognised while paying tribute to the team which supported him.
He added: "I can’t put the feeling into words.
"To go against all these fantastic managers in so many fields and to come out on top is just so surprising. It’s an honour and I would like to congratulate everyone who has been recognised."
Diversity champions
In the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) category, East Riding of Yorkshire Council senior project manager Katy Robinson received the individual award for her contribution to the NAWIC Yorkshire campaign, which is championing the provision of inclusive personal protective equipment (PPE) across construction.

Robinson, who is a supporter of CIOB's #PPEthatfits campaign, has also worked closely with the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) to establish a requirement mandating the provision of women’s PPE across all CCS registered sites.
Commenting on the award, Robinson said: “It was an honour to win the EDI Individual Award at the CIOB Awards, and be recognised for the hard work I’ve put into the PPE campaign.
“The campaign is helping to make the industry more inclusive for minority groups, but also safer too.”
The BBVS ED&I Team at HS2 Station, Old Oak Common collected the Equality Diversity and Inclusion Team Award
The EDI Team Award was collected by the Balfour Beatty Vinci Systra (BBVS) joint venture ED&I Team at HS2 Station, Old Oak Common.
Demonstrating a commitment to EDI across the integrated project team, BBVS is responsible for the delivery of the super-hub which will be the largest new railway station ever built in the UK.
