Building Safety Act: What has changed?


The Building Safety Act was subject to many late changes before becoming law. Stuart Brown and Sarah Monaghan explain.

The Building Safety Act finally became law on 28 April 2022.

It received Royal Assent after three years of public consultation and legislative process. The final text of the Act was published on 13 May 2022.

The act implements most (but not all) of Dame Judith Hackitt’s recommendations in her 2018 report, Building a Safer Future.
