BIM+ is proud to have been shortlisted in the Best BIM SME Website category of the BIM4SMEs awards. Run in collaboration with RICS, the awards have been set up to “showcase excellence, promote best practice and highlight the tremendous opportunities BIM presents” to SMEs.
According to the organisers, the website category recognises “companies that have developed the most user friendly websites dedicated to showcasing BIM and its application”.
Also on the shortlist for the BIM website category are sites from north east-based contractor Howard Russell’s site and architect Bond Bryan’s BIM blog.

The Bond Bryan BIM blog was also shortlisted in the Best SME BIM Blog category, while Bond Bryan also received a third nomination for the Best BIM Project – Medium Enterprise (51-250 employees) for its use of OpenBIM at Bradford College.
In that category, it is up against laser scanning specialist Plowman Craven, shortlisted for its work on the Bristol Temple Meads station redevelopment.
Project management consultancy, Terence Kiney Associates, Canterbury-based contractor Coombs and project manager Links Project Management were also each shortlisted in two categories.
An expert panel of judges that includes Tim Platts, chair of BIM4SME, James Fiske, director of product delivery and operations at RICS, BAM’s Kath Fontana, Nick Tune, director at BRE and architect Richard Saxon, will now select the winning websites, schemes and practices.
Winners will be announced next month on 18 June at an event at the Westminster Boating Base, London.
Platts is positive about the entries and exposure the awards are bringing to SMEs. “We are very happy with how it turned out. Each category has very worthy and commendable entries,” he said.
“We set up the awards to increase exposure, and bring SMEs into the limelight as not everyone thinks of the SMEs in the BIM debate, but it is absolutely critical to engage this group in the discussion,” he continued.
BIM4SMEs is confident that the awards will return next year. “Hopefully next year we will be able to celebrate an even wider and broader range of entries,” said Platts.

Each of these nominated SMEs has displayed a great knowledge and understanding of BIM, whilst being instrumental in pushing the BIM agenda amongst their peers.”
“These awards will support in recognising and promoting SME achievements and the great benefits of BIM in today’s construction and built environment industry. Technology in general will drive the future skills agenda, and BIM is at the heart of this trend. For smaller companies, investment in technical skills such as BIM provides an opportunity to differentiate their business offering.”
